Building a better Community | May Initiative | In support of the Calgary Society for Persons with Disabilities

The Calgary Society for Persons with Disabilities (CSPD) makes it their mission to provide support to adults with developmental disabilities to reach their greatest potential through quality residential services and community access.

At the CSPD, it’s more than just providing services; it’s creating a family. Persons with disabilities are paired up with friends and caregivers in an atmosphere where everyone feels as connected as family. It feels like home.

On May 26, Westcor will participate in the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon in support of the CSPD. Our team will be hitting the pavement and fundraising to help the CSPD raise the necessary funds to build two new kitchens in one of their duplex-style homes. This will have a direct positive impact on the people who rely on the CSPD and will provide massive practical and emotional value to the caretakers as well.

How can you participate?

Supporting the Calgary Society for Persons with Disabilities is simple. You can join our team to run (or walk), donate to support the Westcor/CSPD team here, or just show up and cheer on the runners. Everything helps, and there are plenty of options, from 5k to 50k, if you’d like to participate in the marathon.

Because the goal of this fundraising effort is to raise enough money for a new kitchen, there is also an opportunity for you, or someone you know, to help the CSPD directly through the donation of labour or materials for their project. Check out the scope of work with attached pictures here if you would like to lend a hand to this important project.

If you have any issues whatsoever with the registration or donation for the marathon, or would like to participate in the work directly, please email
