Take a second to think through your morning routine. You wake up, wash your face, brush your teeth, shave, put on deodorant, pick an outfit and get dressed. Chances are you don’t think too much about it, you just do it. Maybe you listen to music, drink coffee, or prepare your to-do list for the day. However you do it, your routine is your way of starting out the day on the right foot.
Now, imagine a part of that routine goes missing. Walking out the door wouldn’t feel the same. Unfortunately, this is a reality for hundreds of Calgarian men who lack basic clothing and hygiene products every single morning.
This doesn’t sit right with us, so riding the momentum of our towel drive for The Mustard Seed, we are excited to launch our second community initiative. For the month of October, we will have a bin in our lobby to collect men’s clothing and hygiene products for the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
New or gently used clothing is accepted and appreciated, but all hygiene products—soap, shampoo, shaving cream, razors, deodorants—must be new and in the package. Think about the best parts of your morning routine and how you can contribute to making someone else’s complete.
If you have any questions about donating, or how you can get further involved with the cause, please contact Maggie Pusztay at Maggie.pusztay@westcor.net.
