I’ve never been a big fan of the cold. It’s not that I don’t enjoy winter, because winter is beautiful and fresh and gives me good reason to wear my warmest, ugliest Christmas sweater, drink rum and eggnog and watch ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ on repeat – which are all wonderful things.
It’s easy to forget how lucky I am to have a warm sweater, a rum and eggnog, and a cozy living room to go home to every night. No matter how hard the struggles of my day, I know I have a warm place to rest my head.
I would like to say that I think of those who are less fortunate on a daily basis but the truth is it’s easy to separate “me” from “we.” I am all too often wrapped up in my own struggles to deeply consider the plight of others. That’s why it’s important to take advantage of those moments of awareness when we remember that everyone struggles, and that we all welcome a helping hand at some point in our lives. Christmas is one of those times, and I for one am grateful for those moments when I’m reminded of how important it is to be of service.
The Westcor family is committed to Building a Better World and we ask that you join us in giving back to those in need by dropping off a coat or two at our head office so that we can all be warm this winter season. We are accepting gently used coats of all shapes and sizes from now until December 12th, 2017.
You can find us at 2420 39th Ave NE, Calgary AB.
Happy Holidays from the Westcor Family.
